Shirdi
is located in Maharashtra, approximately 275 KM from Mumbai International
Airport. Other big cities in its proximity are Nashik, Aurangabad, and Pune.
Nashik is located at a distance of 90 KM. Aurangabad that is also having a
domestic airport, is 150 KM away and Pune is 220 KM from Shirdi. One can reach
Shirdi by train also and the nearest railhead is Shri Sainagar railway station.
Saibaba’s temple is just 2 KM from here but not many cities are connected with it.
The nearest railway junction is Manmad, at a distance of 60 KM. Most trains
have a stoppage here. Although it is not a big city, one can easily find a good
hotel in shirdi.
After
reaching Shirdi, everybody goes to Saibaba’s temple to take his blessings.
Those who have been there even once would fully agree with the statement that
it is not easy to have Saibaba’s Darshan during daytime. Either one should
visit the Sai temple early morning or in the evening. During the day, one can
visit places in the neighborhood like Samadhi Mandir, Dwarkamai, Chawadi,
Gurusthan, Jain Kanch Mandir, Khandoba Mandir, Shani Mandir, Ganesh Mandir,
Shiv Mandir, and Maruti Mandir.
If
one can get a room in a hotel in shirdi,
exploring outstation places near Shirdi where most devotees visit, also becomes
easy. Most hotels provide taxi on rent for sightseeing. Saibaba’s Mandir closes
after Shej Aarti at 11 pm and reopens next morning at 4 am. One Thursdays,
Saibaba’s Palki starts from Sai Mandir at 9:15 pm and reaches Dwarkamai at
around 9:45 pm.
